GETTING MARRIED STEP BY STEP

CONTACT ME

Once you have set a date, contact me to match our calendars and see if I am available. It is important that you click with your celebrant so lets catch up in person or via skype to see if I am "the one" for you.

THE CREATIVE MEETING

In this meeting we will get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere at my home. I will ask you questions about your love story to personalise your wedding and together we work on ideas for the layout of your ceremony and go through all the questions you might have for this big day. You will also have to sign the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) form and I have to see both of your passports (further details here) for identification.

If you are living overseas or interstate the NOIM can be posted once it has been witnessed by an appropriate party at least 31 days before your wedding day. All creative meetings can happen in this case via phone, skype or email.

CREATING YOUR CEREMONY

After knowing your story and having a good idea, what your wishes and thoughts for your special day are, I will draft your wedding ceremony. If you like to personalise your wedding vows or wish to have friends and family included I am happy to send you suggestions for vows and readings. After your edits per email and approval I will send you your final copy of the ceremony.

YOUR WEDDING DAY

I will arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the ceremony at the venue and prepare everything for a smooth run of the ceremony and signing of the documents post ceremony. All you have to do is say 'I Do!'

REGISTERING YOUR MARRIAGE

On your wedding day, I will issue you with an official Marriage Certificate.

This is a legal evidence of your marriage, which shows your basic information.

If you do not wish to change your surname after marriage, this certificate is sufficient.

After the ceremony I will register your marriage with the Birth, Death and Marriage Department in the state you got married in.

Full Certificate

Optional Additional Service. Current fees available here.

To change your surname, you must request a full certificate from the Birth Deaths and Marriages Department, which shows ALL the details of your marriage registration. This certificate is accepted as evidence of your new name and so you do not need to go through a separate change of name procedure with the BDM.

A full certificate is only issued by the BDM (not by me), and they charge a processing fee. I can order a full certificate on your behalf up to a month after your wedding. It is much easier for you than filling out the forms yourself. I do not charge extra for this service – you simply pay the BDM processing charge at cost via me.
